Chaired this year by Jones Day Partner Hilda Gavan, the event raised more than $350,000 to support the organization’s community programs.
The Empire Room in Dallas was the scene of The Concilio’s annual Big Dreams Gala, held Nov. 1. Themed around the vibrant traditions of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), the event featured a seated dinner with chef-inspired Latino cuisine, themed cocktails, and live music.
In all, the event raised more than $350,000 to support programs equipping Latino and other diverse families across North Texas. It was chaired by Hilda Galvan, partner at Jones Day, and brought together community leaders, supporters, and advocates to celebrate a rich cultural heritage while thinking big for the future.
“This year’s gala was not only a celebration of our community’s rich traditions but also a powerful reminder of the impact we can have when we come together for a common cause,” said Florencia Velasco Fortner, president and CEO of The Concilio. “The funds raised will directly support our programs focused on education, health, and economic mobility, breaking cycles of poverty and creating lasting opportunities for success.”
A highlight of the evening was a special Ofrenda Wall, presented by PepsiCo, a tribute that provided guests with a meaningful way to remember those who came before them. Along with PepsiCo, other sponsors included Universal Display & Fixtures, Munoz Wealth Management, Career Management Partners, The Addy Foundation, Apex/Fintech Solutions, Southwest Airlines, and Hilda and Mike Galvan.
“The success of the Big Dreams Gala reflects the incredible support from our community,” said Michelle Wilner, vice president of development of The Concilio. “Together, we are making a difference in the lives of Latino families in North Texas and building a brighter future for generations to come.”
Since its founding in 1981, The Concilio has served more than 1 million individuals, equipping them with resources and support. For additional details on the Big Dreams Gala, click here.
