The Concilio, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing the educational and socioeconomic status of Latino and diverse families in North Texas, has been named the UnidosUS Affiliate of the Year.

This prestigious honor places The Concilio among the top of over 300 community-based affiliate organizations nationwide that partner with UnidosUS. The award was presented at the UnidosUS Annual Conference in Las Vegas on July 17. The annual award is bestowed to an UnidosUS Affiliate that accomplished exemplary work in serving their communities and advancing the mission of UnidosUS.

Nestled in Oak Cliff, The Concilio has been serving North Texas since 1981. They offer gold-standard programs that drive both educational and socioeconomic advancement of Latino families. Through grassroots outreach and impactful programs, The Concilio has touched the lives of over 1,000,000 people, helping families access education, health and wellness, and economic opportunities.

Florencia Velasco Fortner is the CEO and President of The Concilio, and the daughter of immigrants whose personal story propels every step she takes in her career and commitment to serving others.

“This recognition is a testament to our team’s dedication and passion,” Fortner said at the award ceremony. “At The Concilio, we envision a future where every child has access to quality education, families have financial stability, and health disparities are eradicated. This award motivates us to continue our strategic and innovative efforts.”
